Everyone’s favourite grumbling funny man and star of BBC2’s Mock The Week, Andy Parsons, is back on the road with his brand new show, Gruntled, which he brings to Buxton Opera House on May 17.
After sell-out runs across the UK in 2009 with the Citizens! tour, Britain’s foremost topical comedian returns to the stage for more logically rigorous, cutting edge comedy.
Expect the usual clever politically inspired bemusements and disappointedly crushed enthusiasm. This is a sharp, thought provoking show by one of our most astute comedians.
Andy has enjoyed huge success as a writer and performer on television and radio as well as on stage.
He was a main writer on the original Spitting Image (ITV), is a regular on Mock the Week (BBC2) and has made appearances on amongst others, QI (BBC2), The Politics Show (BBC1), Newsnight (BBC2), Saturday Live (ITV) and Live at the Apollo (BBC1). Andy was also in the stellar line up for Channel 4’s Comedy Gala At The O2 .
In 2009 he also released his debut stand-up DVD Britain’s Got Idiots through Universal Pictures (UK) which aired on BBC2 in 2010.
Andy’s radio credits include Never Write Off The Germans (BBC Radio 2) Fighting Talk (BBC Radio 5 Live), The PMQ Show (BBC Radio 5 Live) Parsons and Naylor’s Pullout Sections (BBC Radio 2) and creating two series of The Lost WebLog of Scrooby Trevithick (BBC Radio 4).
Andy’s renowned stand-up performances have taken him all over the world to prestigious comedy festivals in Montreal, New Zealand, Australia and Kilkenny and Edinburgh. Awards include being crowned winner of the 2006 Montreal Comedy Festival ‘The Comedy Showdown’, winner of the 2004 New Zealand Comedy Guild Best International Act and winner of the 2002 Time Out Best Comedy Award.
