THE CELEBRATED Kinder Children’s Choirs of the High Peak - fresh from their acclaimed performance in the UK premiere of Karl Jenkins’ new major work The Peacemakers - will present their popular annual concert at Buxton Opera House on Sunday (June 24).
Entitled Gloriana - a Jubilee Tribute, the concert will feature a wide-ranging programme of choral favourites from the Proms, folk, film and pop, 120 voices in a wonderful mix of youthful vitality and great harmony under the direction of Founder Director Joyce Ellis.
“We always put on a wide-ranging concert with a variety of choral favourites and appreciate the warm reception and loyal support we receive when performing on our home ground,” said Joyce.
“This year, with the Jubilee theme we are hoping that members of the audience will bring their flags with them for rousing renditions of Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
“We strive to present an evening’s music that is too good to miss and we look forward to greeting many old and new friends.”
The choir’s performance of Jenkins’ work at Manchester’s packed Bridgewater Hall last month drew plaudits from many quarters.
After the concert, the Kinder Concert Choir and the Kinder Junior Singers will compete against the finest youth and children’s choirs from around the world at the famous Llangollen International Eisteddfod on July 4 and 5.
