Saxophone and piano duo Ian Millar and Dominic Spencer are to present a relaxed evening of live jazz at Youlgrave Village Hall.
The Edinburgh-based pair have been playing their melodic improvisations on jazz standards and original compositions for a number of years, extensively touring jazz clubs, villages, small theatres and arts venues across the UK.
Regular performers at festivals, including the Buxton Fringe Festival, they have also enjoyed six enormously successful years at the Edinburgh Fringe with their successful show Jazz at Lunchtime.
Their latest endeavour, Jazz in the Village, sees Millar and Spencer taking their infectious style of jazz music to Britain’s smaller communities.
Spencer said: “We have been very successful at transforming the village halls into an intimate cabaret-style jazz club setting with low lighting and candles on the tables.
“We now have very many fond memories of wonderful evenings in halls around the country where the reception we have received and audience comments have been fantastic.”
Added Millar: “Our experience of playing in halls up and down the country has been amazing and the acoustics in most of the halls are superb.
“We have experienced a warm and friendly atmosphere where the audiences know each other, creating truly inspirational settings for some wonderful evenings.”
The performance, which will be raising funds for the village hall, starts at 8pm on Friday October 3.
Audience members are invited to take along their own drinks.
Tickets, priced £7.50, are available online at yvh.org.uk/jazz or from Hollands Butchers in Youlgrave.
