HAYFIELD Concert Society welcomes Chinese double bass virtuoso Yiming Fan to its concert at St Matthews Church tonight (Friday).
She will be accompanied by David Jones, who is well known to Hayfield Concert Society audiences. David will also be playing some piano solos.
Yiming Fan studied at the Central Conservatory of Beijing from the age of 14. She was principal double bass in the China Youth Symphony Orchestra between 2004 and 2006.
She then won a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) where she is now in the second year of the MMus course studying with Jiri Hudec, Principal Double Bass of the Czech Philharmonic.
David Jones has performed at Hayfield many times over the years. He is a senior staff accompanist at the RNCM, and is Assistant Director of the Junior RNCM.
He recently completed his PhD at the University of Manchester.
The concert on Friday October 7 starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £8 (£6 concessions, under-18s free). Pay at the door from 7pm.
