New Mills annual panto is ready to giggle, belly laugh and slapstick its way onto the stage at The Art Theatre.
This year the hilarious pantomime Dick Whittington, with help from a frenetic cast, will take charge of your ‘laughing tackle’ - and show you what true pantomime is all about.
The story follows Dick Whittington (played by Hannah Hyde) and his faithful cat Tom (Charlie Hodgkinson) travelling to London where they meet Alderman Fitzwarren (John Reezer) and daughter Alice (Jessica Holman). Skullduggery is afoot as King Rat (Darren Cooper) forces them to flee London in disgrace. They sail to Morocco, are shipwrecked and find themselves at the mercy of the Sultan (Barry Jarvis). Fairy Bowbells (Mia Rothewell) watches over them, ensuring Dick Whittington clears his name, becomes Mayor of London and marries Alice.
Outrageous panto Dame, Dolly Dumpling (Sean Stennings) and her daft son Idle Jack, dish out the comedy along with crazy Captain Cuttlefish (Rob Brittles) and hopeless First Mate Scupper (Angela Hulme).
With a strong company singing their hearts out, great dance routines, colourful sets, beautiful costumes and a stunning finale, this is traditional family panto at its very best.
Dick Whittington runs at The Art Theatre on Jodrell Street. Evening performances at 7.15pm on January 30, February 6 and 7, matinee performances at 2.15pm on January 31, February 1 and 7.
