This week’s Band of the Week are a two piece band from Buxton.

Neil Bothamley and Carl Riley make up Life Story Piracy, a duo who blend genres to create a fantastic original sound.

Forming in early 2013, Neil and Carl have gone from strength to strength with their punk rock style.

The pair wanted to create something more than music, they wanted to do more than sell a few records. So they use Life Story Piracy as a vehicle for their opinions, all whilst creating catchy, foot stomping singles.

They may push the boundaries with their tongue-in-cheek lyrics, but the pair are influenced by the likes of Blink 182, Green Day and Joy Division, all bands who have left their mark on the music industry by refusing to go with the status quo.

After finding themselves amongst a string of covers bands, Life Story Piracy decided to go against the grain and focus on their own original work, something they say is what makes Derbyshire’s music scene so brilliant.

Having recently re-released their four track demo, The Struggle, the band have are taking a break over the festive period and are set to play their first ever gig in Liverpool in February.
