Singers and solo artists are urged to sign up for one of the largest national music competitions.
Auditions for Open Mic UK will be held at Studio 25, Manchester, on Sunday, August 9.
More than 12,000 entrants nationwide are expected to try for places in the competition, run by Future Music, where the overall winner will receive £5,000 to develop their career.
Future Music discovered artists such as Columbia Record’s Lucy Spraggan, Luke Friend and Karen Hardy both of whom have had chart success this year, Jacob Banks, Warner Music’s Birdy, Union J’s Jaymi Hensley and Jahmene Douglas, both of whom are now signed to Sony Music.
Artists who make it through the Open Mic UK auditions will go on to perform in live showcases held in the most prestigious venue in their area. Their aim is to progress to the national grand final, which in previous years has taken place at The NEC in Birmingham and within The O2 in London.
The competition will be judged by music and entertainment industry specialists. Past judges have included A&R from Warner, Sony and Universal, as well as top music producers, music managers and national radio DJs.
