Children from Hartington C of E Primary School were joined by parents and teachers to create their Well Dressing as part of the village celebrations – traditionally the last of the Well Dressing season.

The 200th anniversary of the establishment of Church Schools, in 1811, was the theme for this year’s well and provided the inspiration for local artist Lucy Annat who created the design.

Using natural materials, the youngsters were helped to bring the design to life.

The blessing of the school and village well was followed by the crowning of Amy Broadley as the Poppy Queen with her attendants, Isabella Foo, Lucy Grindey and Thomas Wager.
