A FORMER traditional upholsterer turned artist is preparing to exhibit her work at a top exhibition.
Artist and illustrator Louise Jannetta, of Buxton, will join hundreds of emerging and established UK and international artists by showing off her work at the Buy Art Fair, at Spinningfields in Manchester, which opens tomorrow (Friday) and runs until Sunday.
This will be her second successive appearance, although this year she is represented by the prestigious Webbs fine art gallery in London.
“I think this is a massive endorsement of my achievements so far,” explained the mixed media artist, who is a member of Peak District Artisans.
Despite being accepted at the prestigious Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Louise embarked on a career in upholstery before returning to art three years ago. She now has a studio based on Dale Road.
Among her latest contemporary creations are textured oils on canvas, using techniques and materials from her days as an upholsterer to give her work a 3D effect.
