Buxton’s Crescent will be brought to life this Christmas by an interactive sound and lighting project which will illuminate the building and its interior.
The ‘GLOW’ project is being produced by Buxton artist Andrew Robinson and will feature illuminated windows across the facade with brightly coloured lights and projected silhouettes created from archive images and photographs.
The display will take place every evening from 5pm until 12pm from November 20, when the town’s Christmas lights are switched on, until January 3.
Liz Mackenzie, the Crescent’s Community and Volunteer Officer, said: “This exciting new Crescent project is something for residents, families and visitors to the town to experience during the festive period.
“We are grateful for the support and interest from local organisations and businesses.”
The light show will be accompanied by a soundtrack produced from recordings made within the building and memories of the building contributed by local people.
The project is being promoted as part of Buxton Crescent and Thermal Spa development on which work is planned to start shortly.
When complete, the landmark will be transformed into a 79-bedroom spa hotel, a state-of-the-art thermal, natural mineral water spa and six specialist, boutique shops.
