AN EXCITING new theatre and dance festival for young children, featuring international performers, is about to kick-off in Buxton.
The Jump In festival - a ground-breaking theatre and dance event taking place as part of the regional Cultural Olympiad - will see 45 events taking place at venues across Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire during May and June, aimed at children aged between two and ten.
It will bring two award-winning companies to Buxton. Spanish dance and theatre company Aracaladanza will appear at Buxton Opera House on Tuesday May 29 performing Nubes (Clouds) - a brilliantly funny and entertaining performance suitable for children aged four and above.
It will be closely followed by the Scottish theatre company Catherine Wheels at the Pavilion Arts Centre on Tuesday June 5 with its show White, which is suitable for children aged two to four.
Andrew Aughton, from Buxton Opera House, said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Aracaladanza and Catherine Wheels to Buxton. Thanks to the Jump In festival and collaboration across the East Midlands with other arts venues, Buxton has been able to secure these highly-acclaimed, internationally-recognised theatre and dance companies.
“Both of the shows are suitable for really young children. Both performances are lively, vibrant and will amaze our local audiences of all ages, from two to 92!”
Tickets for Clouds on May 29 at 6pm are £7 for adults and £6 for children. There will be two performance of White on June 5, at 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Tickets for this are priced £5. For more information, visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk or call the Box Office on 0845 127 2190.
