Shopkeepers are being urged to help bring back the buzz to Buxton by backing the town’s Art Trail.
Buxton Art Trail (BAT) began in 2010 as part of the Festival Fringe, and last year hundreds of tourists armed with the BAT brochure and map in hand, searched the town for venues that hosted the 72 participating artists.
As a lead into the weekend of the BAT, shops were invited to allow artists to show some examples of their work to whet the public’s appetite and promote the weekend.
“It was a great opportunity for the commercial world and the artists to join together to bring that extra buzz to Buxton,” said organiser Louise Jannetta.
“Three thousand full colour brochures were printed with all the venues displayed on a town map. All participating shops were highlighted on the map,” she said.
Now Louise is hoping to repeat that success by inviting more shops to join in and benefit from the publicity and the increase of visitors that the BAT excites.
BAT hopes each participating shop will display an artist’s work for two weeks prior to the BAT, from June 23 and during the 2012 Buxton Art Trail, on July 7 and 8.
Any shop or retail area is invited to participate in this event. If you are interested please contact Louise on firstname.lastname@example.org; 24 Dale Road, Buxton SK17 6NL, tel 01298 214267.
