60s stars at charity night

A BAND with an international reputation for musical comedy is to perform at Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens on Friday March 16 – for the first time since 1963!

Back in the Swinging Sixties, The Barron Knights supported The Beatles on their first UK theatre tour.

Now, the world-famous, hit-making masters of mirth are back by popular demand to support the civic charities of High Peak Mayor David Lomax.

Formed in 1960, The Barron Knights have not played the Pavilion Gardens since touring with the Fab Four in September 1963.

The band’s other claims to fame include touring with The Rolling Stones, releasing a string of hit singles and playing to large, sell-out audiences worldwide.

The headliners will top the bill at a Charity Dinner in aid of High Peak’s mountain rescue teams and Buxton Opportunity Club, which helps pre-school children with special needs.

The fundraiser starts at 7.30pm and tickets, priced £45, are still available from Julie Fawkes at Buxton Town Hall on 0845 129 7777 (ext 2016) or by emailing Julie.fawkes@highpeak.gov.uk.

Gents attending the glittering fundraiser are asked to wear dinner jackets or lounge suits.
