OLYMPIAN Annie Last took top prize at the Derbyshire Dales Sports Awards.
Annie, 22, from Great Longstone, received the Sportsperson of the Year Award during a ceremony at Matlock Town Football Club.
Despite still not being old enough to officially compete in the elite category of her sport, Annie took a superb eighth place in the women’s mountain biking competition at the London 2012 Olympics and has been ranked as high as fifth in the world.
The Veteran Sportsperson of the Year award went to Monyash triathlete Nicola Dick.
Derbyshire Dales district councillor Jo Wild said: “It was great to witness an evening of celebration and success that showcased the incredible talent, motivation, determination and commitment of people who live in the Derbyshire Dales.”
Also attending the event were a number of Olympic and Paralympic Torchbearers from the Dales, including Olympic mogul skier Ellie Koyander, from Tideswell.
