There have been three nominations from our area at this year’s Derbyshire Sports Awards.

Richard Ball, of Hadfield CC, has been recognised for his sterling work in promoting local cricket by being short-listed for the Derby College Community Coach of the Year award.

Richard has been cited as a driving force behind his club’s set-up, dedicating his time to a range of activities to enhance the participation and enjoyment of children of all ages.

More success for the area has come from Glossop North End AFC Juniors, who are finalists in the PKF Cooper Parry Club of the Year section.

It has been an exciting 12 months for the club during the judging period, which started with a new committee, a restructuring of the club and the inception of a five-year plan.

The third finalist is Furness Vale-based Cadtek Systems, one of three organisations contending for the Active Workplace Award.

Cadtek has encouraged employees of all fitness levels to attend a twice-weekly boot camp, an initiative widened out to the whole Furness Vale industrial estate where they are based, as well as local residents.

The awards take place at the Roundhouse in Derby on Thursday November 6.
