This Sunday (September 29) sees a one-off fundraiser take place at the club as they aim to raise cash for an airfence.

Without the fence the club will be unable to compete in the 2014 season, which is set to be the 20th anniversary of the club’s formation.

Ex-Hitmen team captain Dean Felton has organised the special event with riders from the 70’s, 80’s 90’s and 00’s lining up at the start line on any bike they wish.

He said: “Hopefully the event will be a huge success and we will get the money we need.

“It’s not been easy to get riders but we’ve managed to assemble 16 riders.

“There’s a lot of people’s heroes in the meeting and a couple of ex-world champions so it should make it a nostalgic day.

“Any money we get is all going into the airfence fund so it’s just about spreading the word.

“It should be a good day and if we can get 500 people for example, then that’s £5,000 we’ve raised.”

Special permission has been granted to Buxton Speedway for this event.

Admission for the day will be charged at £10 adults, £1 children.

The line-up includes ex-world champions as well as non-riding appearances by other well known speedway legends.
