Derbyshire rivals lie in wait for Hawks in end-of-season finale

RUGBY League club Hope Valley Hawks warmed up for their forthcoming play-off final with victory over Rotherham Roosters.

The Hawks, who finished top of Midlands Division Two with eight wins from nine matches, will face North Derbyshire Chargers in the end-of-season showdown at Derby RUFC on Saturday August 18 (kick-off noon).

Chairman Matthew Eyre said: “Once again the Hawks have had an excellent season, and the club’s pioneering development of all-year-round rugby continues to progress, with hopefully some silverware to come.”

l Hope Valley’s rugby union sides are back in training. The 1st XV kick-off their North West Division Three South season at home on Saturday September 1 against Winnington Park 2nd XV.

Meanwhile, the 2nd XI will open their new campaign in Division 5 East away at Littleborough 3rd XV.
