Buxton Rugby League Club are gearing up for their debut season, after finalising a number of off-the-field issues.

The new club, which is bringing the 13-a-side code back to the High Peak, has confirmed that the club will be known as Buxton Bulls.

Organiser Tommy McGuigan says that the club have now been granted permission by union neighbours Buxton RUFC to stage home games at Sunnyfields.

He told the Advertiser: “We will definitely be playing our home games at Sunnyfields.

“We’re registered with the Midlands Merit League and we’ve got a cluster of games already organised.”

The club’s first game has been pencilled in for Saturday May 10, when Bury Broncos will be the historic first opponents.

Tommy added: “We chose this date because we weren’t sure whether the union season would run over or not, but this date gives us enough flexibility.”

He also confirmed that the new side have arranged three further fixtures so far, with others in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, those interested in being part of the club, either in a playing or sponsorship capacity can contact Tommy on 07742895082 or tweet @BUXTONRLFC.
