A much-changed Buxton piled on the pressure and played the first quarter entirely inside the opposition’s half.

It wasn’t until the 12th minute that the first points of the game were registered; Buxton were awarded a penalty and Martyn Welburn kicked the three points.

Straight from the restart Dan Hay broke away to score in the corner.

Not long after Ainsley Armstrong finished a great move to run in under the posts.

Congleton restarted the game and came out strong, but resolute defending held the visitors at bay.

The next try for Buxton came from an interception from Darren Wilson who showed his pace to run in under the posts and make it 18-0 going into the break.

With the bonus point in sight Buxton came out strong in the second half and it wasn’t long before Ryan McCoy burst through and went over.

Adam Burford, on as a substitute, made an instant impact and crashed over for the fifth try.

Congleton then pulled back a consolation try after good work by one of their wingers.

Moving into the last 10 minutes Buxton debutant Chris Woods touched down for the hosts’ sixth score of the afternoon

By the time Ian Scott powered over for a seventh try, Buxton were already assured of the bonus point.

This weekend Buxton make the trip to league leaders Prenton, who have a 100% winning record.
