The latest Pavilion Gardens 5K was contested by a record field of 96 runners last weekend.
In perfect conditions, John Wadelin from Erewash returned to better his course record by six seconds after finishing in an impressive time of 16 minutes and 21 seconds.
The first female, and also the fastest junior girl, was 14-year-old Louisa Whittingham, from Macclesfield Harriers, in 21.08, while the quickest junior male was 12-year-old Jacob Buckley in 20.51.
A Buxton AC Club record was also broken when Steve Watson, now in the over-50 category, finished in 18 minutes, 9 seconds.
Elsewhere, at the country’s premier 10K race at Trafford, the race was won by Nick McCormick of Morpeth Harriers in an astonishing time of 28 minutes and 56 seconds.
Buxton AC’s sole competitor at the event was Sheila Bradley, who was the fastest female over-55 thanks to a time of 46.30.
Jason Bennett opted for the longer distance, competing in the Ashby 20-miler, finishing in a great position of 38th from over a thousand runners after a time of two hours, 10 minutes and 28 seconds. Helen Brunt also took part, and finished in 3.12.48.
The final cross-country event of the season, the inter-counties championships, was held at Birmingham last Saturday, with several club members representing Derbyshire.
Rob White and Alfie Bailey competed, whilst Elliot Meylan was first Derbyshire runner home in the under-13s.
