It was a frustrating day for the PS Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League as rain either prevented any play or forced an early abandonment in many games.

In Division One, the only game played to a conclusion was at Tintwistle.

Visitors Whaley Bridge were reduced to 40-6 before Lee Jones (43) and Matt Slack (35 not out) brought the score up to 139 all out, AJ Harris taking 4-55 and James Pool 4-43.

The Tintwistle reply also started badly as they faltered to 43-5. However, despite a rain delay reducing the overs S Patel finished 72 not out and P Higginbottom 32 not out as Tintwistle reached 140-5.

Only some play was possible at Hadfield as visitors Mottram had made 112-5 thanks to an unbeaten 59 from J Smith, R Hirst having taken 3-17 before rain prevented further play.

Broadbottom were hosting Compstall and were 126-3 before weather forced an early finish, Ryan Welsh 56 not out.

No play at all was possible at either Old Glossop or Hayfield.

In Division Two, Buxworth continued their fine start to the season as they restricted visitors Offerton to 205-8; Ian Bates hit a terrific 92 not out.

Buxworth then saw S Leatherbarrow score 31, Joe Hall 42 and N Critchlow a fine 84 not out as they romped to 207-4.

Dove Holes travelled to Charlesworth and posted 155 all out as Jack Gregory hit a brilliant 98, Gareth Evans taking 3-52, Dave Wood 3-21 and Jon Wardle 3-43.

With the second innings reduced to 28 overs Charlesworth closed on 62-4 to secure a rain-affected draw.

There was a similar result at Newton where the home side had been bowled out for 200 by visiting Hollingworth.

Phil Hammond hitting 36 and Nick Tansella 32. Mike Knight then struck 38 not out in a score of 54-3 before rain forced an early finish.

Birch Vale had only scored 39-3 at High Lane before rain meant no further play was possible.
