Change of formation just the ticket for Buxton HC
Derwent went ahead early through Max Bartholomew following poor defending.
Skipper Andrew Matthews’ decision to play the Dutch formation took some time for the team to learn but gradually a sense of cohesion started to emerge.

Hide AdBefore that Derwent’s young and free-running forwards put Buxton’s defence under constant pressure but stout defending by Joe Uprichard, Jim Davies and Mark Smith gave some protection to Dan aylor.
After 25 minutes, Matt Powell broke from midfield and with a clever one-two with Laurence Cusco smashed Buxton’s first goal.
A second came shortly after with a subdued Dave Edwards eventually finding his mojo and netting Buxton’s second.
Tight marking in the second half by a resurgent Buxton defence snuffed out the Bartholomew threat and the home side then went on a goal spree.

Hide AdCharlie Edwards and Josh Smith began to run riot down the right flank. Pinpoint passes gave Dave Edwards his hat trick, Powell his second and Josh Smith scoring Buxton’s sixth. Just before the end of the game, Derwent’s most threatening forward burst through into the Buxton D. A stunning tackle from Andrew Uprichard thwarted a certain goal.
