Buxton Ladies are building momentum after two wins in a row, the most recent a 4-0 rout of Findern.

They were hoping to follow last week’s success when they hosted Findern in their first home match of the new season.

And they were not to be disappointed.

Buxton looked solid, playing high tempo hockey with great passing restricting Findern’s possession.

The Buxton Ladies put the pressure on early and sustained this to create numerous chances on goal.

Findern’s stubborn defence was finally broken by a flowing move where Nicole Roe set up the first goal emphatically finished by Kirsty Dewberry.

Keeping Findern on their toes the Buxton midfield dominated play with Kirsten Moore distributing to Hannah Collins and Jacqui Wall who turned defence into attack with rapid movement and crisppassing to Kirsty Dewberry, Lizzie Potts and Naomi Sessions.

It wasn’t long before Buxton doubledtheir lead with captain Nicole Roe getting her first of the game.

Findern attempted to break down the Buxton defence with some long balls into Buxton’s half whichwere consistently thwarted by Sharon Sessions, Karen Ainscow and Sam Armitage.

The defensive trio were expertly marshalled by their star keeper Helen Szostakowicz who kept another clean sheet.

The second half started with Buxton on the front foot but was abruptly halted when Sharon Sessions, having made a run alongside a Findern attacker, flew through the air landing awkwardlyand winding herself.

With Sessions out of action Buxton regrouped with Jacqui Wall dropping into defence.

Play continued with Naomi Sessions making some great runs and becoming increasingly influential on the game creating Nicole Roe’s second goal via a rebound from Michelle Dexter-Lowe.

New addition to the team Michelle Dexter-Lowe’s work rate was undeniable, however her first attempt on goal from a short corner was controversially disallowed.

Unperturbed Dexter-Lowe continued to test Findern’s defence and was rewarded with a goal.

Unfortunately, Dexter-Lowe went off injured to leave 10 Buxton Ladies to see the match out.
