Buxton AC fielded a 12-strong team at the third race in the English Junior Fell Running Championship at Meltham, West Yorkshire last weekend.
The under-10 team, consisting of Lauren Wilshaw and Clementine Newbould, brought in the first team points with Lauren posting an excellent fifth place.
The under-12 team of Lucy Bednall and Heather Wilshaw finished 10th and 25th respectively.
The under-14s, fielding an excellent seven runners, saw Finn Moffat earning top marks in ninth place.
In the under-16s race Helen Thornhill completed Buxton’s best points tally this series with an outstanding fourth-placed finish.
Buxton and District Athletics Club can now boast five of its youngsters gaining places in Derbyshire’s team for the British Inter County Fell Championships on Saturday, May 16 in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales.
George Smedley-Castle and Sophie Quince (Under-18s) join the trio of Lois Forshaw-Perring, Joe Upritchard and Helen Thornhill (Under-16s) for the event.
In the Derbyshire Mini-League Track and field at Derby’s Moorways Stadium, Buxton fielded a team of 11 runners.
Notable results saw Lauren Wilshaw (under-11s) finish fourth in the 80m and third in the 600m; Jamie Barlow (under-11s) came third in the 150m; Abbie Fryer-Winder (under-13s) was third in the 70m hurdles; Alfie Barlow (under-9s) was first boy home in 50m.
The under-15 boys were led by Radim Poledne who put in an outstanding performance to come third in the 100m, third in the 200m and third in the Shot.
Seb Lawless came fourth in the 100m and Luke Mamczur was fourth in the 200m.
