Buxton have signed the vastly experienced James Cockle for the rest of the season with David Wallinger being replaced by the Derbyshire club.

Cockle spent last season with the Isle of Wight Warriors who he was skipper for and started this year with the Plymouth Devils.

Hitmen team manager Joshua Moss said: “I’m delighted to have got James (Cockle) here to Hi-Edge for the rest of the season. James is a good and capable rider around Buxton and away from home he is always a force to be reckoned with at the majority of tracks.

“His personality will help develop the younger lads as he is a real team player.

“Obviously with James coming in that mean David Wallinger will be taken out of our team which in hindsight is a bit of a shame because when he actually decided to ride for us he wasn’t half bad, but this draws a line on that with James coming into the side.”

Cockle will make his debut for the Hitmen in the National Trophy fixture at Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday when Buxton entertain Birmingham, 3pm.
