Chapel’s Jack Massey was left frustrated last weekend after a no-show from his opponent left him without a bout.

The unbeaten 22-year-old had taken part in a six-week training camp in preparation for his eighth professional outing at the Midland Hotel in Manchester last Saturday.

However, his opponent pulled out 24 hours before the fight and Massey’s camp were unable to find a suitable replacement in time.

David Massey, Jack’s dad, says that the late hitch was disappointing.

He said: “The opponent pulled out on Friday morning.

“The promoters tried to rematch jack but it was to no avail.

“He was a bit gutted because he’d done a six-week training camp and had nothing to show for it.”

Jack’s next outing is not far away however, as he is slated to appear on Anthony Crolla’s world title fight undercard at the Phones4U Arena in Manchester on July 18.
