High Peak AC’s young athletes put in top performances at the North Midlands Cross Country League race in Corby — the second in the series.
In perfect conditions for cross country running, there was success for HPAC in the first race of the day.
Alice Tolley followed up her win in the first race of the series in October by again taking the 2km under-11 girls’ race in a time of 8minutes 32seconds — 22 seconds ahead of the second-placed girl.
In the under-11 boys’ 2km race, George Tweedie was 15th place (8-58), followed closely by Xavier Morgan who showed great finishing speed to come 18th.
Josh Edlin put in a a strong and well planned run to finish 25th, followed by Hamish Tweedie (29th) and Samuel McGill (31st).
In the under-13 boys’ race over an undulating 3km, William Stanway came a creditable 10th in a high-quality field, and is showing he is a quick learner in his first season of cross country.
Elspeth Morgan ran in the under-15 girls race, over the same 3km course, and showed grit against a very strong field to finish 30th.
Next in the cross country season for the club is the Derby Mini-League XC at Tupton, Chesterfield, on Saturday, 25th November.
The next North Midlands League race is on 2nd December at Shipley Park, Heanor.
