THREE Buxton Athletic Club runners travelled over to North Wales last Saturday to compete in the annual Twin Piers 10K race, which starts at Llandudno and finishes in Colwyn Bay.
Continuing his recent good form, Buxton’s Rob White had an excellent run, coming home in 13th place overall and winning the veteran over-35 prize in a personal best time of 34 minutes and 33 seconds.
Buxton’s other male competitor was Dan Feely, finishing in 49th place (39:35) and also as fourth over-50.
In the ladies race, Sheila Bradley had a strong run to finish 14th overall, and third over-50, in a time of 44 minutes 55 seconds.
l At the recent Lambs Longer Leg Fell Race, held from the Lamb Inn at Hayfield, a short but tough 3.5 miles with 950 feet of climbing, Pete Bailey finished in 42nd place in a time of 37 minutes and seven seconds.
Fellow Buxton runner Dave Forshaw came home in 62nd position (41:26).
l Back on the roads, at the Four Villages Half Marathon, held in Cheshire and organised by the Helsby Running Club, Buxton fielded three runners.
First home was Simon Moorhouse in a time of one hour and 45 minutes, while Ann Roberts-Dinsley finished in two hours and ten minutes, ahead of Jarrod Roberts-Dinsley in two hours and 15 minutes.
l Buxton Athletic Club meet at 6.45pm at the Pavilion Gardens Swimming Pool on Wednesday evenings, and at 6.30pm in the Pavilion Gardens Car Park.
