Teen Wilshaw beats the hill at Herod Farm
Among the 110-strong field to take on Herod Farm Fell Race, 14-year-old Wilshaw finished 53rd and won the under-18s girls category.
The ever popular Herod Farm Fell Race is the traditional first mid-week local fell race. It is a tough category A race covering 1,100ft of climb over it’s four-mile length.

Hide AdThe route starts on a track off Primrose Lane and continues through Herod Farm, from where it descends towards Simmondley. After dashing through fields the race begins in earnest, climbing up the face of the ‘Nab’.
Finally, athletes retrace their route back down via the farm track to the finish.
The race was first held in 1989 and is hosted by Glossopdale Harriers.
The 2016 winner receiving the Stella Judd Memorial Shield was Buxton AC Helen Thornhill and this year Helen came second lady, first under-23s girl, and 12th overall.

Hide AdBuxton’s David Fryer-Winder finished 23rd, third under-23s and George Smedley-Castle came in 44th overall, fifth under-23.

Hide AdElliott Meylan had a good run to finish 26th overall, second under-18s boy.
Both Helen and Heather were part of the ladies team, along with V50 winner Jo Bednall, to win the senior ladies team prize for Buxton AC.
