In their first gala since returning to their home at Buxton Pool, Buxton Swimming Club competed in the Belper Marlins Open Meet.
Ruth Winkless, Lily Howard and Kara Cocker all swam well in the girls’ races, with Patrick Cooper and Harri Bowen both doing brilliant in the boys’ events.
Every swimmer went home with personal best times in most events, and a handful of medals between them.
Buxton also had two new members swimming their first galas for Buxton. Libby Dickman swam plenty of personal best times and Liam McWee picked up a gold medal for his 100-metre butterfly.
A special mention was given to Bowen and Cocker, who finished fourth and ninth overall in their age groups respectively.
Buxton finished an excellent fifth out of 12 in the top club competition, picking up 15 medals and trophies.
Head coach David Peet said he was proud of all the swimmers and was looking forward to a strong turn-out at the Derbyshire Sprints held at the world-renowned Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
Buxton Swimming Club is now taking on ‘Masters Swimmers’; a section for the older swimmer wishing to keep fit, or compete.
