GO-KARTING brothers Harry and Sam Wilkinson are on the right track to success.
The pair, of Alma Street in Buxton, have landed numerous trophies with a string of excellent performances at Manchester & Buxton Kart Club (MBKC) and Cheshire Kart Racing Club events.
Last year, Sam, 15, a pupil at Buxton Community School, won Best Novice awards at both club tracks in his first year of racing.
In the 2010 Invitation TKM Championship, Harry, 16, finished second in the junior standings with 99 points, just ahead of Sam in third place, with 87 points.
And the pair have also made a positive start to the 2011 MBKC race season at Three Sisters in Wigan on January 23. Both riders raced in three, eight-lap heats to reach the final of the junior TKM event, with Harry eventually finishing second, and also posting the fastest lap times of the day. Sam had to settle for eighth place after being knocked off the track at the first corner.
Dad Derek said: “I am over the moon with them both. Harry is coming into his own as a front runner, while Samuel, who has only been racing for the past year, is also up there with them as well.
“We have had a great start to the year already, and both will be hoping to continue in a similar vain for the remainder of the season.”
Both Harry and Samuel fund their racing activities themselves, and any local businesses wishing to sponsor the brothers can contact Derek on 07970 480 497.
