Buxton Hitmen have unveiled Sam Darroch as the club’s number eight for the 2015 season.
The surprise move was announced by team manager Jason Pipe.
“I wasn’t going to name a number eight yet, but I’ve had my eye on Sam for a few weeks now and he has impressed me with recent displays at Scunthorpe and Peterborough.” said Pipe.
“I like his attitude and confidence and I know he is a rider I’ll be very happy to work with during the season ahead.
“Another club was also showing an interest in Sam, so I had to get in there now and make sure he was coming to Buxton.
“I honestly believe that he should already be racing in a one to seven in this league and I’m very surprised no one has come in for him.
“I’m sure the other riders and our fans will take to him straight away.
“He’s very much a welcome addition to our squad.”
Darroch says he was delighted to be given the opportunity to join the Hi-Edge team as he looks towards future success.
He said: “I’m looking to increase my MDL scores from last year and very much put myself in the shop window to gain a firm place in the NL team.
“Not only to get myself well on the pace but to be beating riders of a higher calibre.”
Hull-based Darroch will join the other Hitmen riders at the club’s annual Press and Practice at Hi-Edge on Sunday April 5.
