Running: Bronze position for Rachel in the Silkstone Shuffle

Buxton AC’s Rachel Chatwin travelled to South Yorkshire at the weekend to take part in the Barnsley Silkstone Shuffle four-and-half-mile race, and was rewarded as she became the third-fastest female finisher thanks to a time of 32.22.

The time ensured she finished 42nd overall, from a field of over 200 competitors.

Neil Wainwright, meanwhile, competed in the popular Retford Half Marathon and from a field of almost 700 runners, finished in 1.34.29; 97th position overall.

At the shorter distance of 10K, Kevin Mottram posted a time of 43.02 in the Newcastle 10K at the weekend, and was 75th from a field of 400 runners.

Parkrun results from the weekend were: Lyme Park - Jason Bennett (2nd) in 19.48, Aleks Kashefi 22.08, Richard Bouglas 23.12, Pete Bailey 23.18 and Rachel Dowle 28.03.

Elliot Meylan was the sole junior from the Club to take part and he finished in 21.29. Buxton-based Paul Tutt recorded 20.40 at the same race. Steve Claye competed at his favourite Marple Parkrun and finished in 21.16.

The next event in the 2014 Club Championships will be the five-mile road race on Wednesday April 9 and will start at 7pm from outside the Opera House, finishing on Broad Walk (Old Hall end).
