Jason Bennett posted an impressive top 100 finish in a massive field of just under 1,000 runners at the Alsager five-mile road race last week.
The Buxton AC runner finished in a time of 29.52, with the overall event won by Tom Farrell (Border Harriers) in 24.06.
The event attracts runners from all over the country with the promise of a fast, flat course.
Second home for Buxton was Kev Mottram in 34.05, followed by Alfie Bailey 35.34, Pete Bailey in 35.56, Sheila Bradley 37.45 (first female over-55), Cris Milton 39.26, Emma Havenhand 40.11, Bev Golden 40.46 and Jim Bradley 43.20.
Meanwhile, the popular Pavilion Gardens 5K attracted 75 runners last Saturday morning, with 35 Buxton AC members taking part.
The first man home was AC’s Rob White with a time of 17 minutes, 50 seconds.
The first lady home was Stafford Moorlands AC’s Kerry Marchant in 19.11.
Buxton’s Thomas Drabble knocked almost a minute and a half from his previous time to come home in first junior male position in 18.52, while Rosa Chrystie-Lowe from Stockport Harriers was first junior female in 22.39.
• The first event in the Club’s 2014 Championships, the Dream-On Mile – a measured mile around the Pavilion Gardens – will take place at 7.15pm on Wednesday February 19.
All Club members, seniors and juniors are welcome, as are guest runners.
