EX-MOTORCROSS champion Ryan Blacklock is to return to the Buxton Hitmen next season.
Blacklock began his speedway career last season with the Hitmen and is keen to build on the progress he made.
Hitmen chief Jane Moss said: “Ryan has a good motocross background but found speedway was a very different challenge and it was fitting that his first race win came at Wolverhampton which was also where he took part in his first ever speedway race.
“Although he found the going difficult at times and points were hard to come by Ryan was willing to listen to the advice of others and try and put it into practice. He persevered throughout last year and improved as time went on and was winning races towards the end of the season.
“We will be looking for him to continue his improvement and be among the points on a regular basis in his second season with the Hitmen.”
Blacklock, who is a friend of former Buxton rider Craig Cook, said he was pleased to be back with the 2010 treble-winners and aimed to continue improving.
“I am hoping to start the season off as I finished the last one, scoring some points and will be trying to push my way into the main body of the team by the end of the year,” he added.
Blacklock joins Tim Webster in the Buxton team for 2012, with further riders expected to be unveiled soon.
A points limit of 40 has already been set for the forthcoming National League season, with the rules expected to be ratified at the National League’s AGM in the next couple of weeks.
“We have had quite a few enquiries from riders looking for a team spot but unfortunately we cannot accommodate them all,” added Mrs Moss.
“Things are shaping up nicely and we are aiming to put out a team capable of pushing for some honours.”
