A brand new racing team, based out of Glossop, is looking for potential sponsors to get on board ahead of the start of the road-racing season.

Glossop Kinder Velo Racing Team (GKVRT) is a new venture being launched by members of Glossop Kinder Velo Cycling Club.

The club has set an aim of having a cluster of cyclists from the Glossopdale area, of all ages, that will compete in races both regionally and nationally at all levels throughout the year.

GKVRT club chairman Ben Falla says members are now busy pursuing sponsors ahead of the March deadline, for the start of the road-racing season.

He told the Advertiser: “To achieve our goal we are after the support of local organisations and businesses to create partnerships that will break down the barriers faced when participating in races for juniors, women and novice racers.

“We are looking for sponsorship but due to the tight timescale before the start of the road racing season we have set up a crowdfunding page at to achieve this.

“The page has a range of pledges from £10 to £2,000. This makes it easy for local businesses, organisations and individuals to get involved.

“This also gives us a time limit of March so we can get sponsored and get riding as a team, in time for the start of the road-racing season.

“While there are packages set out on the Crowdfunder page, we understand that as a potential sponsor you may wish to contribute to the team in an individual and unique manner.

“If this is the case contact the team and we will do our best to create a sponsorship package that will suit your needs.”
