Liam Burke stepped up to four rounds in style as Buxton A.B.C travelled to Kettering School of Boxing for Middleweight action.
A short and stocky opponent came looking for the Buxton lad from the off, but Burke weathered the initial storm catching his man on the way in with his powerful jab that looked to be slowing his opponent as the first neared its end.
He enjoyed Increased pressure and success in equal measures in the second and third as Burke started to dominate.
He landed heavy shots to head and body of a very game opponent who remained dangerous throughout and didn’t fade as anticipated.
Picking up a slight cut over the eye in the third, Burke look fit and strong in the fourth as he enjoyed more success stepping back from the clinch and landing heavy straight rights.
All three judges agreed the Buxton boxer had won every round and granted a unanimous decision.
On the same night, but boxing at Tamworth, female boxer Kelly Booth made her debut on a skills/exhibition bout.
After months of dedication and hard work in the gym Booth boxed well in the first behind the jab, and mixing combinations in sessions two and three.
Both boxers will appear on the Buxton A.B.C show November 27th. Tickets are available on the night.
