Ladies continue run of wins with Staveley rout


Buxton Ladies continued their impressive run of wins with a 6-0 thrashing of Staveley II.

Staveley went into the game with the same record as Buxton, but found themselves on the back foot early on, Michelle Dexter-Lowe putting Buxton into the lead.

Leading on from this passage of play, Buxton got yet another from Dexter-Lowe.

Kirsty Dewberry scored the third before Dexter-Lowe secured her hat-trick to put Buxton 4-0 up going into half-time.

After setting the standard in the first 35 minutes, Buxton started the second half wanting to continue their remarkable form.

Buxton had sustained their intensity with Helen Szostakowicz, Sam Armitage, Emma Alexander and Kirsten Moore not allowing Staveley to spoil the clean sheet.

The midfield were quick to counter attack and Dexter-Lowe scored another screamer, deservedly earning her Player of the Match. S

Staveley had been run ragged by this point and Eleanor Shaw, on her debut for Buxton, smashed the ball past the keeper to get her first goal of the season.

On a mixed day for Buxton Ladies, the seconds went down 8-0 at home to Ashbourne III.

The seconds started strongly with great passing play through the midfield, Ellie Higgins Brown skilfully nipping round the Ashbourne players receiving great balls from Kate Higgins Brown.

The hosts were hit by an injury blow when Victoria Allen was struck by a dangerously high stick, needing hospital treatment.

Despite Buxton’s best efforts Ashbourne were 5-0 up at the interval.

In the second half Buxton came out fighting but Ashbourne added to their lead.
