FORMER Buxton Community School pupil Kyle Fowler has celebrated an impressive haul of four gold medals and one bronze – all in the space of eight days.

Kyle, who now studies at Sheffield University, ran in the Staffordshire Cross Country Championships on Saturday January 8 at Stafford Common.

The 18-year-old won gold in the under-20s with a dominant display of running, leading from start to finish.

The under-20 team also won gold, and Kyle was the second counter for the senior men’s team to take his tally to three gold medals for the day.

The following weekend was the prestigious North of England Indoor Championships. Kyle ran a perfect tactical race in the 1,500 metres on the Saturday.

Sitting in the middle of the group, he went through the first 800 metres in a steady 2:18 before moving to the front with 400 metres to go and taking the gold in a time of 4:05.

Kyle competed in the indoor 3,000 metres on the Sunday and came away with a bronze medal.
