The Lake District was the setting for last weekend’s rather ominously named Valentine Massacre trail race, which is held around Grizedale Forest.
Buxton AC was represented by Jo Bednall, who completed the hilly course in a time of 48.35.
From a field of 118 female runners, Jo crossed the line in an impressive seventh place, also finishing second in her particular age group.
Buxton AC runners were also in action at the weekly Parkrun 5K series, where up-and-coming runner Ben Light set yet another personal best.
Ben stormed around the Congleton course in a time of 17.36.
This was nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second-placed runner as he stormed to victory at a canter.
Also setting a personal best on the same course was Buxton runner Ian Francis, finishing in 21.16.
Meanwhile, at Marple Paul Tutt joined the list of Buxton sub-20 minute 5K runners, posting a time of 19.39.
Weather permitting, this Saturday sees the return of Buxton’s own monthly 5K race at the Pavilion Gardens.
The friendly free event consists of three laps and is open to all ages.
The start is on the Broad Walk at 9am.
• Meanwhile, this year’s Lomas Distribution Buxton Half Marathon has been given a date.
The race, which attracted 250 runners for the 2014 edition, will take place on Sunday May 24 from the Pavilion Gardens.
Entry forms for the race can be found by visiting the club’s website - buxtonac.org.uk - or by visiting www.runnersworld.co.uk/events.
Entry fee is £10 for UKA affiliated athletes and £12 for unaffiliated runners.
