There was a weekend to forget for Buxton’s two league sides as the first team were heavily beaten and the seconds lost their unbeaten tag.
(Warwick Printing Hockey League)
Berkswell & Balsall Common 7-0 Buxton
Buxton’s first team suffered a crushing away defeat on Saturday, going down to their heaviest reverse of the season.
The hosts were clinical in their finishing whilst Buxton offered precious little going forward.
Even though Buxton saw as much of the action as their opponents, they lacked the attacking threat required to worry the opposition defenders.
The result sees Buxton drop to second-bottom in the East Midlands 1 table.
They have four points from seven games so far.
The Bucks will now be hoping to bounce back in their next game, when Leicester Panthers are the visitors.

Buxton 2nds 1-3 Derby Asterdale 2nds
The seconds lost their first match of the season in an extraordinary match, in which the Buxton keeper didn’t touch the ball, and the opponents scored three goals with only two shots on target in the whole game.
Dominating the first half with their skill and pace, the Bucks could have scored half a dozen goals, yet only managed one; an own-goal just before half-time.
Tiredness then crept in as the game progressed and the visitors took advantage, scoring two good goals before a fortuitous third arrived soon after, when a hard cross from the right wing into the area was cruelly deflected into the net off defender Hambleton for another own-goal.
Squad: D Robins, A Booth, M Lomas, J Clayton, M Hambleton, A Drennan, S Longden, B Meaton, J Sewell, J Lomas, S Meaton, A Taylor.
