Buxton finished off the season with a well-deserved 2-1 win over Mansfield at home last weekend.
The slender victory leaves Buxton well clear of the relegation places and secured a seventh-placed finish after taking 20 points from their 18 matches.
On a fine and sunny day, perfect for hockey, Buxton started brightly and put the away side under intense pressure.
It only took a couple of minutes for the home side to break through with Orritt scoring following a delightful through ball from Browett.
The Bucks were dominating the first half and the second goal quickly followed from a short corner.
Orritt laid off for Wilton, who calmly flicked in to double the hosts’ advantage.
The second half then became a more even affair with both sides creating chances.
Balderstone, in the Buxton goal, made a couple of good saves but had no chance with the Mansfield goal.
The visitors reduced their arrears via a penalty flick.
Buxton tightened up after that goal and an equaliser never looked on the cards.
All in all, Buxton have enjoyed a respectable first season at this level and can now look forward to the challenges that next season will bring.
