HIGH Peak Triathlon Club picked up one of the top prizes in the recent Buxton Triathlon.
The men’s team of Phil Blundell, Nigel Critchlow and rookie Phil Duffy, in his first triathlon, claimed first place in the team category - continuing the club’s winning streak following a similar result in the prestigious Llandudno Sea Triathlon two weeks earlier.
Other club members posting quick times on the demanding Buxton course were Carol Vernon, Liz Hinde and Trish Justin finishing in a very creditable time of 92 minutes.
Following this success, the club has entered two teams in the forthcoming National Clubs Relay event, in Nottingham.
Held on Sunday July 8, the Buxton Triathlon consisted of a 400-metre pool-based swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km, finishing in the Pavilion gardens.
The men’s race was won overall by Terry Greenwood, making a return to triathlon. Kate Morris, of Racing TNT, claimed the win in the women’s race.
