Helping newcomers get on their bikes

Many people will wish they could be as good on a motorcycle as Valentino Rossi, but do not know how to even begin to replicate motorcycling’s biggest star.

Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club is holding a Newcomers Day at their circuit near Ashbourne, on Sunday November 27, from noon onwards.

All the necessary paperwork will be available for those wishing to apply for their first racing licence, and medics at the circuit will be carrying out the necessary eyesight tests – free of charge.

Not sure how to convert your road bike to a race bike, or what would be a good entry level machine?

Then ask the professional race team who will be there displaying their machinery and equipment, but also happy to answer any questions.

It is obviously not just a case of people turning up at a circuit and putting their bike out on track; machine, crash helmet and clothing needs to be scrutineered before riders can ‘sign-on’, which can be bewildering to those unsure where to go.

The club will give tours of the paddock, and with tea/coffee and biscuits available throughout the day a first visit to the circuit will be totally stress free, helping to ensure that any first meeting runs as smoothly as possible.

There is no need to book, just turn up on the day and take part.
