Good turnout for Pavilion Gardens 5k

Jake Fearn led his Buxton AC team-mates to a resounding victory at Mow Cop hill race over in Staffordshire recently, and at 46.17 was a full 30 seconds ahead of the second runner.

Third finisher in the 100 strong field was Ben Light in 47.09, and completing the Buxton AC team was Dan Latham in 55.10, winning the three of them Senior Men’s team prize. Pete Bailey finished the event in 65.48.

The Pavilion Gardens 5K attracted almost 70 runners last Saturday and in perfect conditions, Rick Aldred led from the start and comfortably held his lead for the entire race, finishing in a creditable 18 minutes and 22 seconds.

Amy Clark, in a personal best time for the course, was second overall in the race and first female home in 19.21.

Amy’s father-in-law Jon Sewell chased her all the way to the line, and was just seven seconds behind.

Junior Ben Hawtin was seventh overall, in 21.27, while Sienna Phillips was first female Junior to finish in 22.28.

The Sheffield Half Marathon attracted almost five and a half thousand runners recently and there was just one Buxton AC runner in the field.

Mark Sherratt did the Club proud by finishing in a well earned 57th place overall in 1.24.27.

At the 10K distance over in Newcastle, Kev Mottram was just four seconds awry from his personal best time at the distance and, on an undulating course, his finishing time of 41.09 and 52nd place, does him credit.
