THERE were some great individual performances by Buxton & District Athletic Club members at the Ed Prickett Relays in Nottingham recently, where each runner completed a two-mile leg.
Results: Ladies - The Beavers (B team), 18th: Anne-Marie Claye (14:00), Sarah Nicholson (15:05), Lois Rowlands (14:26). The Cheetahs (C team): Sarah Guise (15:26), Emma Wentworth (15:11), Colleen Butler (30:39). Men’s - The Antelopes (A team), 25th: Steve Watson (11:18), Rob White (11:26), Jon Sewell (12:25), Dan Feely (12:55). The Bears (B team), 35th: Mark Quince (14:05), Andrew Lomas-Wilson (13:21), Ian Francis (14:39), Matt Barlow (14:35).
Roland Meylan led Buxton runners home in the Ashby 20m, finishing 399th in a time of two hours and 38 minutes. Ros Barratt, running her first ever 20-mile race, was next up in a time of three hours and 28 seconds (553rd), closely followed by Emma Havenhand in three hours, two minutes and 19 seconds (580th).
The Stafford 20m race saw Rob White finish in 40th place, in two hours, 17 minutes and 43 seconds. Dan Feely was hot on his heels, finishing in two hours, 21 minutes and 46 seconds in 48th place. Jon Sewell ran well in 02:34:02 to finish in 97th place.
In the Village Bakery Half Marathon at Wrexham, White ran another blinding race over the 13.2m distance to finish in a personal best time of 01:17:44 and claim 17th place. Other finishers were: Roland Meylan, 215th in 01:36:44, and Ian Francis, 289th in 01:33:23.
Elliott Meylan, who gives dad Roland a run for his money, has been running for his school recently and in an event which included all local schools, Elliott came second overall, just missing top spot by a few seconds.
* Former Buxton Community school pupil Kyle Fowler will represent the Midlands in the Home Countries Cross Country International at Antrim on Saturday March 26.
