Ford seeks to close the gap

DARLEY Moor Motorcycle Road Race Championship enters the second half of the season this weekend with round five taking place on Sunday (July 24).

While it appears several classes have hot favourites to take the title, others are far from over and will most definitely still be up for grabs as the final round approaches.

The Sound of Thunder class is just one example, seeing a battle between Jamie Medhurst, from Long Eaton, and High Peak’s James Ford that will go down to the last round, which will be held at the beginning of October.

The riders are currently separated by just nine points - Medhurst on 54 points and Ford on 45 points - and it only needs a small error from Medhurst for his challenger to benefit and turn the tables.

As well as the usual racing classes, others of which also involve High Peak riders, there will be four-wheeled action with two races for the Long Circuit Racing Kart Club competitors.

Practice begins at 10am with the first race expected at 11.30am. Admission is £11 for adults, £6 for senior citizens and free for kids under-16. Parking and paddock transfer is also free, with programmes priced at £3.
