TWO CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH High School students have enjoyed success in showjumping.

Year ten pupils Abigail Jones, from Combs, and Molly-Mae Marsh, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, took part in the National Schools Equestrian Association’s Show Jumping Competition at Beaver Hall, near Leek.

For 14-year-old Molly-Mae, this was her first equestrian competition and she was delighted to be placed first in the 40cm and third in the 50cm jumping competitions on her pony Summer.

Abigail, 14, a more experienced competitor, enjoyed equal success on Itzhak, coming first in the 80cm, second in the 90cm and first in the one metre jumping events.

Headteacher Simon Grieves said: “It’s great to see the girls excelling in this sport; we’re very proud of their achievements.”

The girls enjoyed their day, adding: “This was a really friendly competition, which was good experience for us both,” they said.
