A HOCKEY player from Great Longstone and a triathlete from Chelmorton are among young sporting stars in the Derbyshire Dales sharing a £2,400 cash boost from a Talented Athlete Fund.
Bursaries of up to £300 each have been awarded to nine athletes, including Diane Lee and Sophie Hawkins.
Diane, 25, from Chelmorton, competed for Great Britain at the European Long Distance Triathlon Championships, where she took gold for a second year.
She also took fourth place at the World Long Distance Triathlon Championships.
Sophie, from Great Longstone, played for England under-21 against Japan earlier this month. During 2010 she was part of the England under-18 training squad and played in test matches against Germany.
Last year the 18-year-old also won four national titles.
