The Buxton group of ‘Back to Netball’ played their first game this week, when they travelled to Dronfield.

Back to Netball is for ladies wishing to return to the sport or wanting to keep fit.

The group also caters for mothers and daughters who wish to play sport together but get no other opportunity to do so.

This group is also a stepping stone to improve people’s confidence to go on and play in the High Peak League.

Unfortunately the team could only muster seven players to travel, due to injury, work and child commitments.

The team took a while to settle into the game which allowed Dronfield to take the lead at the start of the match.

The court play was very even and both teams played well.

In the second quarter Buxton took a small lead, as all shooters had upped their game.

After half-time Buxton slowly increased their lead as their shooters became more accurate and Dronfield started to tire.

The final result was 17 -7 to Buxton with a return fixture pencilled in for March.

Buxton: C Peach, R Peach, A Willott, S Hewitt, A Baldwin, L Peach and M Teeboon.

If anyone wishes to join the ‘Back to Netball’ group, they meet on Mondays at 8pm at Buxton Community school.

Cost is £3 per session.
